Claude Lemieux ( non uno dei cattivissimi, ma sempre un giocatore sbarazzino e vivace )

Derek "THE BOOGEYMAN" Boogaard é il nuovo star tra i fighter della NHL. Ha solo 23 anni ma é un mostro di oltre 200cm e 125kg.

Ha giocato 4 stagioni nella WHL (oltre 600 PIM), prima di essere stato scelto al 202° posto nel Draft´01 dei Minnesota Wild, che lo avevano fatto maturare prima nella ECHL con i Louisiana IceGators (compagno di squadra di Tony Tuzzolino) e poi due anni nella AHL con Houston Aeros (106 partite e 520 PIM).

Dopo il ritiro di Matt Johnson (uno dei miglior fighter della lega negli ultimi anni, 1553 PIM in 489 partite) e la cessione di Jason Wiemer ai Flames, Boogaard ha ricevuto la possibilitá di ottenere uno dei due posti liberi per il fighter nella squadra dei Wild, l´altro si era assicurato Andrej Nazarov, che peró nn trovo piú spazio nel roster dopo le prime buone uscite di Boogaard e voci dicono che passerá ai Rangers

il futuro é tutto suo per vari motivi: ha un fisico enorme (peso + braccie lunghissime), nn perde facile l´equilibrio come tanti altri fighter della sua altezza (p.e. McKenna o Hal Gill) e oltre a questo a anche un buon tiro e partecipa molto al gioco (1a rete + 1 assists in 5 gare)

Insieme a Andrew Peters, Brian McGrattan, Colton Orr, Brandon Sugden, George Parros e Sean McMorrow forma un gruppo giovane di tough guys, che forse riportano indietro un po´ di old time hockey
