Dal 18 al 20 Giugno 2009 Barcellona accoglierà uno dei festival, se non IL festival, più importante e ricco sulla scena europea. Non essendo un evento soltanto musicale e notturno, sarà dato spazio anche quest’anno alla vetrina multimediale più ambita dagli appassionati del genere.

Al momento c’è dato sapere soltanto i giorni durante i quali si svolgerà il festival divenuto punto di riferimento per tanti clubber a livello mondiale, ma viste le programmazioni delle edizioni passate non ci è difficile dire che non ne rimarremo delusi.

Certo è che, con tempismo perfetto e in attesa di altre informazioni, qualche aficionado già starà sfogliando il calendario per prenotare un volo e godersi lo spettacolo!

Orbital will be one of the main attractions on the bill of Sónar 2009, Barcelona’s International Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art to be held on 18th, 19th and 20th June.

Orbital, the most important group in electronic dance music in the ‘90s, return to the international stage in 2009 with a tour that will give a fresh airing to all the major hits of their career, which will be an extraordinary opportunity to celebrate 20 years of cinematic techno anthems and symphonies.

The Hartnoll brothers are considered the pioneering duo in the introduction of live improvisation to their performances, a rarity in techno shows at the end of the twentieth century, which they will reproduce once again at what will be their third show at Sónar.

Orbital created dozens of legendary anthems between 1989 and 2004, including Chime, The Box, Belfast, Satan and Style. These anthems have influenced and inspired several generations and a vast number of musicians in the following years.

For their show at the 16th edition of Sónar, they guarantee their patented torch specs will appear, as will new audiovisuals to give a dash of colour to a session with no new songs and packed with all their greatest hits.

More artists on the bill of Sónar 2009 will be announced soon.

ottimi nomi: tra i big vabbè, oltre agli Orbital (veri big!!!), fa piacere che l'Italia sia rappresentata dai Crookers; ottimi nomi anche SebastiAn ma soprattutto Erol Alkan col progetto Disco3000, e soprattutto la combo Moderat che mi piacerebbe un sacco poter sentire dal vivo. sicuramente ottima cosa anche Gazpashow! e lo showcase Red Bull music academy...

New additions to the Sónar 2009 dancefloor: Carl Craig, Jeff Mills, James Murphy & Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem disco set), Luomo and Bomb Squad


Sónar adds five highly regarded and admired djs and producers to its line-up, all of whom are ready to add their quality and wisdom to the dancefloor. Their contributions will range from dynamic techno to gems of disco music, taking in synth house and modern dubstep.

Sónar by Night will include the star presence of Carl Craig, one of the world's most respected djs, producers and remixers, who will round off Saturday night at SonarPub. On the same night, and on the same stage, Jeff Mills will give us a special set for the first time in the open air since he has been performing at Sónar. Finally, James Murphy will be accompanied by Pat Mahoney, the drummer in his band LCD Soundsystem, and together they will be restoring hidden gems of disco music in a head-to-head session.

Two new additions to Sónar by Day will also get our feet moving. On the one hand, there is Finland's Luomo, a paradigm of deep and elegant house, who will be presenting his excellent new album "Convivial". And on the other, Hank Shocklee, half of the Bomb Squad, producers – among others - of Public Enemy, who promises dubstep and hip-hop with a bullet for the Red Bull Music Academy stage.

Dal titolo Sonàr sembra il festival di musica country di Tresigallo, ma dal volantino e dalle tue reazioni mi sembra sia stato decisamente figo. !
Se avrai forze residue per i NIN a Milano dopodomani mi racconti (ma sei andato da solo? Lupo solitario DOC cazzo)

Comunque è stato figo si, a parte l'atmosfera, più di ventimila persone li per divertirsi, ho sentito dei live e dei set veramente con i controcazzi!!!!

Partendo da giovedì sera, James Holden al Razzmatazz ha tirato giù tutto, come sempre, un elettronica che viene da un altro pianeta, lontano anni luce da tutta la merda che ci propinano i dj che sentiamo generalmente ovunque. nathan Fake non ho fatto in tempo a sentirlo, quando sono arrivato aveva appena cominciato Holden.

Venerdì invece al Sònar notturno (perchè c'è anche quello diurno al MACBA), James Murphy & Pat Mahoney dei LCD Soundsystem li ho sentiti poco, ma per quel poco tanta roba, molto bravi, molto elettronici ma anche molto rock. Poi tanta roba anche Richie Hawtin che non delude mai, la sua era una minimal tendende molto più all'electro e alla tecno, ormai deve aver capito che il plin plen della minimal ormai ha stancato tutti, comunque ci ha picchiato come un maiale, se poi aggiungiamo le colonne di luce tutt'intorno alla consolle e l'effetto cielo stellato dietro di lui era un viaggio da manicomio.
Anche SebastiAn live tanta roba, tutta un altra cosa rispetto al dj set, anche lui ci ha picchiato come non mai, da paura!! Alla fine dal palco si è messo a tirare un sacco di maschere fatte come il suo logo con tanto di buco per la sigaretta (per lui sempre immancabile), un grande!!
Il live dei Buraka Som Sistema è stato un misto tra un concerto dei rage against the machine, uno dei public enemy e un dj set dei crookers (che han comunque suonato dopo di loro. Apprezzabilissimi ma non il mio genere.
Ah dimenticavo, quando siamo entrati ci siamo sentit anche venti minuti di Grace Jones, pietra miliare, super concerto il suo, all'ultimo pezzo ha fatto salire quanto pubblico è riuscita sul palco con lei.
Mi dispiace aver perso il dj set di Erol Alkan, però va beh mi ritengo comunque soddisfatto. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Sabato invece (sempre Sònar de noche) ho visto gli Animal Collective che voi magari vedrete qui a ferrara. Boh bravi, però non è troppo il mio genere, troppo indie, troppo.
Gli ORBITAL invece, i veri divi del festival hanno trasformato la sala più grande del festival in un gigantesco rave di metà anni novanta con un sound old school ma allo stesso attualissimo, qui veramente tanta roba!!! La gente era totalmente in delirio!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/23.gif)
Anche Moderat (ossia la combo Mod Selector & Apparat) ha fatto il panico, elettronicamente parlando è stato come ascoltare i queen in duetto con pavarotti! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_mrgreen.gif)
Peccato solo per il live dei Crystal Castle che hanno suonato inconsapevoli del fatto che il pubblico non ha sentito quasi una mazza a causa di molteplici problemi tecnici. peccato per loro ma soprattutto peccato per noi. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_frown.gif)
Ad ogni modo la botta finale dopo di loro me l'ha data quel dio di Jeff Mills con un sound tecno tremendamente dark, anche qui la gente era delirante.

In conclusione, consiglio a tutti di farsi un Sònar almeno una volta nella vita.

Sónar 2010 will take place simultaneously in Barcelona and A Coruña

The Sónar Festival, with confirmed dates of 17, 18 and 19 June, presents a line-up that will to a large extent be shared by the two cities.

Sónar 2010 presents its image - a journey to the end of the world along the Way of St. James.

For the first time in its history, Sónar, the International Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art, will be split between two venues. As part of the Xacobeo Jubilee Year, Sónar travels along the Way of Saint James, and will take place simultaneously in A Coruña and Barcelona. As a result, there will be a double helping of Sónar, the annual Barcelona festival and this one-off event, which will be called Sónar Galicia.

Like the Sónar Festival in Barcelona, Sónar Galicia will have a Sónar by Day with a music line-up, and a multimedia and audiovisual area with a special emphasis on Galician artists. The Sónar by Night stages will feature the latest leading lights in electronica.

The image of Sónar 2010 is associated with Galicia and takes the form of a full-length film. The film is entitled FINISTERRE, and includes six chapters and an epilogue. It looks at the introspective journey undertaken by two ghosts who during Sónar 2009 decided to travel along the Way of Saint James to the end of the world. Once they arrive, they begin a fleeting new period on earth.
